ABOUT BEAVER SCOUTS

Beavers are aged between 6 and 8 years and can be boys or girls - the activities they get involved in are varied and targeted at their age group with a strong emphasis on having fun and making friends.

Our Beaver Colony meet every Wednesday during the school term-times from 5.00pm to 6.10pm at our Headquarters in Send.

ABOUT OUR BEAVER SCOUT LEADERS

Our Beaver Scout Leader (BSL), Cheryl Locatelli, has over fifteen years experience in the role and runs a strong team of adult assistant Leaders and Young Leaders.

Adult Leaders in the Beaver Section are usually known by colour - BSL Cheryl is 'Red Beaver' and Assistant Beaver Scout Leaders (ABSL) Philip, Ian, Paul and Sophie are Green Beaver, Black Beaver, Orange Beaver and Pink Beaver respectively. We are hoping to fill the recently vacated Young Leader place as Blue Beaver (Hannah) has now gone off to university.

WHAT ARE THE BEAVERS DOING?

The Beaver Scout section has a great programme to interest all tastes ... a mixture of outdoor adventures and indoor learning and craft projects present great opportunities for achieving badges so numerous that you wonder if there will be enough space on the uniform jumpers to sew them on!

Beavers also have the opportunity to visit District events such as the Beaver Fun Day and Craft Day and some even get to go to Bazzazz - the County Beaver Event which only happens every three years.

INTERESTED IN HAVING YOUR CHILD JOIN OUR BEAVER COLONY?

Starting as a Beaver is the most usual way to enter Scouting and gives a good basis before moving up into the more senior sections. We do currently have a waiting list to become a Beaver (most Scout Groups in Woking and Guildford operate a waiting list) so it is good to register with us early - it is common to put a name on our waiting list when your child is in Nursery or Reception at school, but some parents have put names down from the age of one or two!

Please download a copy of our application form which is available here:

New members will be able to have a number of 'taster' sessions to see if they settle in before any subscriptions are due and uniforms are purchased so why not give Beavers a go?

Information on how to get uniforms and where can be found on our Contact Us page.

We sometimes have openings for volunteer adults to become Assistant Leaders in the Beaver section. If you wish to find out more please e-mail our Group Scout Leader at sendscouts@hotmail.co.uk .
